Peterborough Northern Star hope to transfer their strong FA Vase form into the United Counties League tomorrow (September 22).

Star earned a first round tie at UCL Premier Division rivals Sleaford Town by beating March Town in a second qualifying round tie at the Branch Bros Stadium last weekend.

Jake Sansby struck the only goal of the game seven minutes from time to complete a fourth win in a row in all competitions.

That run predictably ended on Tuesday when higher level AFC Rushden & Diamonds beat Star 2-0 in the opening round of the Northants FA’s Hillier Cup competition.

Star have another tough home game tomorrow as unbeaten Oadby are the visitors for a Premier Division match.

Fifth-placed Deeping Rangers host third-placed Eynesbury in a tasty-looking clash, while second-placed Pinchbeck entertain Desborough.

Yaxley are slowly finding their feet at Evo Stik League level.

The Cuckoos ended a run of four straight defeats in Division One Central of the Southern League by beating Sutton Coldfield 3-0 at In2itive Park last Saturday.

Yaxley moved up to 12th after a second win of the season. They travel to Dunstable who are 14th tomorrow.

Spalding United have confirmed caretaker-manager Matt Easton has been handed the job on a permanent basis. He starts with a Evo Stik Northern League East Division game at Ossett United tomorrow when Stamford AFC make the long haul to Marske United.
