Barry Fry says the Posh fightback against Lincoln City was like a ‘Roy of the Rovers story’

Fry couldn’t believe his eyes as three goals in the final 25 minutes at the Weston Homes Stadium delivered the point that took Posh back to the Championship. Jonson Clarke-Harris scored the equalising goal from the penalty spot following a controversial last-gasp decision by referee John Busby.

“In 60 years in the game I thought I’d seen everything,” Fry stated. “But I was wrong.

“I sat near the co-owners Jason (Neale) and Randy (Thompson) and I kept telling them not to panic as we are the comeback kings.

“But I didn’t really believe it myself. I was just trying to cheer them up!

“It was like something out of Roy of the Rovers. If you weren’t there to see it you wouldn’t believe it had happened.

“It was never a penalty in a million years, but that’s football.

“Fair play to the players and the management staff for delivering what the club wanted though. It’s been a really stressful year with the pandemic and the absence of fans and that’s what makes this promotion so special.

“The owners deserve all our thanks as well. Jason and Randy have been an enormous help to Darragh.”

Fry has celebrated 60 years in football this season.

He also celebrates the 25th annivserary of his arival at Posh later this month.
