Peterborough Soup Kitchen celebrated 35 years on Sunday of feeding homeless and disadvantaged people in the city.

The charity started out in 1983 at Westgate church and now provides a hot meal every weeknight, as well as on Sunday afternoons.

Trustee Kevin Dawson said: “It’s become a lot popular - demand has really taken off. We feed 50 to 60 people a night.

“We are now looking towards the next 35 years.”

The anniversary celebration also saw Gurdu Nanak volunteers handing out meals, while animal charity Wood Green gave dogs a check over and hairdresser Michelle Squires cut people’s hair for free.
