Police and fire services have responded to a car fire along a Peterborough road this evening (July 9).

A Police car and fire engine were seen along Whittlesey Road in Stanground at around 4pm.

The presence of emergency vehicles blocked the road as they tackled an already well-developed fire.

No one was harmed in the incident.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “A crew from Stanground was called just before 4pm today to a car fire on Whittlesey Road.

“They arrived to find a car well alight. Wearing breathing apparatus they extinguished the fire using a hose reel.

“The cause of the fire was accidental.”
