A Peterborough man is due in court charged with racially abusing a police officer.

Muhammed Ali, 37, was arrested in Cambridge Avenue, Peterborough, on Friday night (18 September) on suspicion of harassment, assault, making threats to kill and making racially abusive comments towards a police office.

He has since been charged with racially aggravated abuse, using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress, and two counts of breaching a restraining order.

Ali, of All Saints Road in Peterborough, has been remanded in custody to appear at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 21 September).
