A Peterborough burglar is back behind bars after being caught on CCTV.

Leon McPherson, 41, had been jailed for more than two years in 2019 for burglary - and now he is back inside after he smashed a window at a Peterborough property.

McPherson tried to smash the window of the property in Windmill Street, Peterborough, at 5.30pm on 4 September but was seen by the owner and made off.

A tin of loose change had been sat on the windowsill.

McPherson, of Axiom Avenue, Peterborough, pleaded guilty to attempted burglary and was sentenced to 15 months in prison at Peterborough Crown Court on Monday (12 April).

Detective Sergeant Justin Parr, who investigated, said: “McPherson was sentenced and sent to prison for a burglary offence in 2019, yet here he is brazenly attempting to do the same again.

“I am glad justice has been done today and McPherson is back behind bars.

“Burglary can have a devastating impact on victims, which is why tackling it is one of our priorities.”
