A man has been charged with being in possession of an axe in a Peterborough street last night (Tuesday 10 November).

Irmantas Mauracas, 37, of Potters Way, was arrested in St John’s Street in Eastgate at about midnight after CCTV operators spotted a man with a weapon.

He has since been charged with being in possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, namely an axe, and has been bailed to appear at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on 16 December.
