The remarkable effort to set up Peterborough's Christmas Tree in Cathedral Square has been revealed.

With a bit of early festive magic, the tree appeared in the Square early this morning - but rather than Santa and his elves, a huge crane and truck were needed to lift the tree into place.

The team worked before the sun came up today to give city centre workers a Christmas surprise as they headed for their offices.

The tree was supplied by Nunton Christmas Trees in Maxey.

This year the Christmas Lights Switch on will take place virtually due to the COVID pandemic.

Full details of the switch on can be found here
